Book-Review: "Girl Online" by Zoe "Zoella" Sugg

For the german holiday Nicolaus-Day I always get little presents. The last three years I always got chocolate and a book, so this year i figured out my mum's strategy and when I heard that one of my absolute favourite YouTubers ever, Zoe, aka "Zoella", writes a book I knew what I want for Nicolaus Day. Then finally on the 6th of December, Nicolaus-Day, I got it and I imediatly wanted to start reading, because of the amount of books and school and future stuff, I always got stuck at chapter 3. So in January I picked it up again and I finished it at 4am in the morning the next day.

Because Zoe is one of my favourite YouTubers ever ever ever, i thought I'd write a little book review about what I think about "Girl Online". So there you go:

My Review:

Without sounding mean I wasn’t too sure about 'Girl Online'. Of course I got the book to support the author, Zoella, because I am a big fan of hers, but I also wanted to enjoy the book that I got.

Because I didn't knew what's it about before I got it, I wasn’t too sure what to think about ‘Girl Online’ until I read the back of the book:

A girl, named Penny, who blogs under the alias ‘Girl Online’ about her hidden feelings about friendship, boys, her crazy family and the panic attacks that have begun to take over her life. When things didn’t look good for Penny, she leaves beautiful Brighton to go to New York with her family over the holiday. Thanks to a door mishap she met the handsome, “drop dead gorgeous”, guitar-strumming American, Noah. Penny captures every moment she’s spending with him on her blog as it suddenly starts to feel like more than friendship. Before she even knew it, she fell for him, but what Penny doesn’t know; Noah has a secret too.

Zoe not only used a beautiful language that made the characters feel even more alive and the plot even more interesting, but also a bit easier to read. With this plot the story really gets you to live in the life penny is living and you can almost feel everything she is feeling.

But what could Noah's secret be? Will it ruin Penny’s cover? Will it end her closest friendship ever? Forever? With a lot of notes in my copy of ‘Girl Online’ and (two) long never ending nights of reading the book I came up with my Endreview:

I would say that Zoella, the beauty and fashion blogger, vlogger, internet personality and one of the most influential tweeters in 2014, who never wrote a book before, is on her way to the top. Even though she already is at the top, she seems to always find a way to climb one step higher.

Her novel ‘Girl Online’ really moved me and I can safety say that it topped my favourite book ‘The Fault in our Stars’ by John Green. Now don’t get me wrong, I still love the John Green books but I think that Zoella has a more special place in my heart and i cant way for Book 2, that she’s been planning for a while now.

Well done, Zoe. Keep up the amazing amazing work!!
